Dora Kallmus set up as a photographer in Vienna in 1907 and established a reputation as a portraitist to an elite clientele. Opening a studio in Paris in the 1920s, she photographed notable celebrities and society figures including Josephine Baker and Coco Chanel. This monograph, published to accompany the exhibition at the Neue Galerie, New York, includes reproductions of over 100 of her images, concluding with some from an abbatoir, and essays about her life and work.
