Written with Priestley’s encouragement but only published after Rosemary died, this memoir records his day-to-day life, eccentricities and charm, alongside portraits of his many visitors, including the cricketer and fellow Yorkshireman Len Hutton, the novelist Iris Murdoch, and the painter David Hockney.
