In 1955 six young men drove from London to Singapore – an exploit that captivated the nation. Almost 65 years later Alex Bescoby asked one of those men, the now 86-year-old Tim Slessor, to help create the trip in reverse. Here Bescoby recounts the 19,000-mile journey, in one of the original Land Rovers, from Singapore via Nepal, Azerbaijan and Turkey, battling mountains, breakdowns and civil war.
